Remove Old Versions and Download Caches in Scoop

Scoop keeps older app versions after upgrades and caches downloaded installers so they can be reused. If you need to reclaim disk space, clean up old versions and remove cached downloads separately.

Remove old app versions

To clean up old versions of all per-user Scoop apps, run:

scoop cleanup --all

You can also clean up one app by name:

scoop cleanup <app>

To include globally installed apps, use --global from an elevated PowerShell session:

scoop cleanup --all --global

The --cache option to scoop cleanup removes outdated cached downloads while cleaning old versions. It does not remove every cached installer.

Remove all cached downloads

To clear the entire Scoop download cache, run:

scoop cache rm --all

This removes cached installers, so Scoop may need to download them again if you reinstall those versions. You can inspect the cache first with scoop cache show.

Using --all also avoids a shell difference: * can be expanded by Bash or another Unix-style shell before Scoop receives it. The --all option works without a wildcard.
